The Dummies

Nic turned to the other camper and nodded in acknowledgment as he put his crossbow back into its sheath on his leg. There were two of them, one on each leg and it was rather intimidating, or so he had heard, when someone saw his three swords and two crossbows. He wasn't really a show off in any definition of the word, yet it was always fun to hear someone say that it was amazing to see his fighting. That was always his favorite part of training, when someone else saw his smooth movements that he had practiced for hours and days and weeks. He was an avid believer that if someone didn't practice and push themselves to the limit, then there was no way they would survive in a full fledged battle with creatures that were potentially older than the Olympians themselves. Finally, after sizing up the kid a bit, Nic smiled slightly. That wasn't really that good. My aim was off and I spent too much time drawing my crossbow, yet it was really nice to see the decapitated head with a crossbow quarrel sticking though its eye.

Nic slowly processed everything that had happened and then decided upon a great solution. Well, how about I help teach you some basic sword fighting techniques? After you get that down, all there is is archery which isn't real easy to pick up. Nic sheathed the short sword and then drew his long sword. That blade would be his perfect weapon to train someone easily. Even with that long sword, it was only his medium length blade.

Nic turned to the new guy and grinned. He enjoyed the thought of taking on two people, and it might just train him as well. With no effort needed, Nic switched his body so that he had the River Styx immortality. The weakness was on the bottom of his left foot, which was covered by a thick dragon leather boot. Yeah, the more the merrier. Just give us a minute.

Nic grinned and then thought about how the training would go. His mind started playing scenarios in the vast emptiness of probabilities. Nic swung his sword a few times and felt the blade sink into the cloth of a dummy. So it really begins with knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your weapons. I use swords and crossbows and I know most of the strengths and weaknesses. My sword choice is the longsword, about 4 and a half feet long, with a hilt long enough for two-handed attacks but mainly used as a one-handed blade. Nic took his time and then turned the sword so that they could see the blade. Let's begin.

Nic grinned at the axe and then swung his sword around and slashed across the chest. At the last second, he spun and slammed fist into the kid's side. Lesson #1: Never assume that there is fair-play involved. Nic spun around and put his sword in a guarding position.

'I can wait..and Yes I would!' Lucian says as he watches the kid swing his sword. At the first sight he looked like a normal demigod at Camp Half-Blood. But..Lucian felt something diffrent about him. The kid was far more superior than the normal demigods. Lucian looked at the kid with curiosity.'Im guessing he is our...trainer?' he asked to the kid next to him.

Nic felt his mind whirling around with different possibilities but he decided for a different approach. Alright, show me what you know as a fighter. Don't worry about harming me, it isn't real likely.

Nic smiled and then nodded in acceptance. If you practice, you can overcome any challenge. Nic switched weapons so that he had his shortsword. Then he turned and looked at the others. Tom! You're next.

Nic looks at Tom and the chuckled. It was great that there were people who were willing to learn. Well, here's a blade that I'm sure will work for now. Nic flipped his shortsword so he could hand it to Tom. It wasn't that big of a deal and Nic had several weapons left to use. Nic drew his longsword and waited for his training partner to be ready.
