Lessons were over for the day, so she decided she would ride Meadow for awhile. Heading to Meadow's stall and getting the right equipment, Maureen saddled her horse. Trotting along the path, Meadow suddenly snorted. They were getting close to the woods, and she didn't like that. Maureen patted the mare's neck, muttering soothing words. Tugging slightly on the reigns, she wheeled her horse away from the dangers of the forest.
Biography: Maureen Saunders was born on August 29th, 2000. Her mom was a single parent, Maureen had no siblings, and life was... different. Maureen's mom worked two jobs, often bringing her along. When Maur wasn't in school, she spent her time at a music studio, fiddling with instruments while her mom taught classes. This is how Maureen learned to play guitar.
Throughout school, when she was three to when she was thirteen, Maureen always loved to write. Friends would request poems, teachers always expected more from Maureen's essays. Writing was (and is) her passion. Her and her mom lived on something that could be considered a ranch, but they only had one animal, a dappled gray horse named Meadow.
Maureen went through the first thirteen years of her life as a semi-normal child, battling dislexia and ADHD. Maybe a week before her fourteenth birthday, Lizzie Saunders decided to take her daughter on a vacation to "New York Country", as they liked to call it. They would bring Meadow along with them.
That's when things went loopy. On the third day of their vacation, Maureen's mom got deathly sick, from food poisoning, it seemed.
But they were so far into the country, with nothing in sight but a lonely strawberry-covered hill. There was no way Lizzie would be able to drive them back to some place where they could get help, and Maur had absolutely no idea how to drive. Maur tried tending to her mom as the hours passed. After sleeping through the night with Maureen by her side, Lizzie Saunders increased greatly. Whereas the previous night she couldn't even open her eyes, this morning led to Lizzie speaking.
She looked like the needed to say something. She told Maureen that she would get better slowly, but then get sick again. Maureen, ever inquisitive, wanted to know why and how, but her mom wouldn't tell her. But what Lizzie did tell her is that she could no longer actively take care of her daughter. She wouldn't even be well enough to take her daughter home. Maureen was shocked. What was she, a fourteen-year-old supposed to do?! Go up the strawberry hill, her mother told her. Go pick me some strawberries, and take Meadow with you.
Maureen reluctantly agreed, realizing that her mom was well enough for Maur to be gone for an hour.
She would be back before her mom knew she was gone! Maureen quickly saddled Meadow, spurring her up the hill. But once the pair passed a particular pine tree, everything changed. It was almost like the air shimmered, and then the view in front of her changed. She stood on top of a hill, overlooking a valley. A farmhouse's lights glowed yellow, inviting Maureen to go visit.
But her mom...
Maureen's responsibilities were remembered just as she saw the farmhouse. Help! Help coukd be down there! It was worth a try!
((Sorry, I kind of made my bio kinda like a RP))
