| Full name: Astra Eðna Any nicknames: None Gender: Female Age: 16 Years at Camp: 0 God and mortal parent: Freyja and Orin Eðna Date of birth: 12/14/1996 Place of birth: Birka, Sweden Eye color: Blue Hair: Long and straight, light blonde with slightly darker roots, when in the sun her hair lighhtens to a light blonde. Height: 5'7" Body type: Tall with an athletic build, well defined muscle structure. Distinct markings: Red rune tattoos on her face, one on her right cheek with the other running down the left of her jaw. Personality: Astra is respectful and dutiful, believing strongly in doing what is right, and following a code of conduct. Being a daughter of Freyja, she is honorable, loving, loyal, proud, and more. Astra is, at times, competitive, and strives to keep herself strong, seeking to prove to others that she is worthy of their respect. While some may view her as a little aggressive, she is normally very kind to people she likes. Finally, being the daughter of a love goddess (albeit a warrior love goddess) she is prone to idle fancies with boys, like many teenage girls are. Astra is considered beautiful by many, but she prefers others to see her as a warrior than as a "pretty girl". Because of this, and her adoration for her culture's history, she typically wears archaic styles of clothing, many of which are old norse styles, and keeps her hair relatively messy. This does not mean she never dresses up, only that she doesn't often worry about primping. Powers: - Valkyrja (Chooser of the Slain) - Astra, as a daughter of Freyja, is inherently a form of "Valkyrie." This gives her a sort of sixth sense about who falls in battle. This allows her to know when an ally or enemy has been killed in battle. Through this, and if the fallen wishes it, Astra can send the fallen to Sessrúmnir, her mother's hall to prepare for Ragnarok, which is essentially armageddon. Unlike the Valkyrie, however, Astra is not tasked with caring for the warriors of her mother's (or Odin's) choosing. However, she does have an almost unnatural attraction to such warriors.
- Charmspeak - Astra also has a minor charmspeak ability. While this is only a minor form of suggestion, it can work well on the weakminded, but works extremely well against those who are in her mother's hall. Compared to a daughter of Aphrodite, however, its incredibly weak and can only be used twice in a single day.
- Berserkr - Astra was gifted with the power of the Berserkrs of old, allowing her to enter a trance-like state, a battle frenzy that grants her a great boost in strength, endurance, and brutality. In this state, Astra is much stronger, can resist large amounts of damage, and tends to act savagely, even to the point that she begins to act animalistic. She has been known to howl or growl like a wolf while berserking. Lastly, this ability is very draining, leaving her mentally and physically exhausted afterward. The long the rage lasts, the more tired she becomes. if it lasts more than an hour, she won't be able to walk for at least a half hour afterward. If it lasts longer than two hours, she will be rendered unconscious, unable to awaken for a minimum of two hours.
Fatal Flaw: - Wrath - Astra has an incredibly hard time forgiving, and as such, is far more likely to injure or kill someone who has wronged her. While able to maintain enough composure to not severely hurt anyone, she was always prone to getting into fights.
Flaws: - Social phobias - Astra doesn't do well with groups of people, especially groups of other females. While Astra is feminine in some of her interests, her masculine interests typically strongly overshadow the feminine ones.
- Ill Tempered - Astra often loses her temper when people irritate her, which has caused her to get into fights. It also causes her to act rashly at times, which can get her into trouble.
Weapon(s): - Alatus (Her Viking Long Sword)
- Viking War Axe
- Viking Short Spear
Pets: None Talents/Skills: - Unarmed Combat
- Swordsmanship
- Axemanship
- Spearmanship
- Great Fighting Ability
- Highly Athletic
- Incredible Reflexes
- Great Strength
- Survivalism
- RP Example:
Astra sat on her bunk in the Norse cabin at Camp-Half Blood. She had only arrived at the camp a couple days ago. She hadn't really met many of the people yet, even her cabinmates hadn't spoken to her much yet. But then, she supposed that it was always like this when you went to a new place. It was certainly that way with schools when she was young. Having to deal with new people year after year was enough to drive someone mad. At least, until she decided she had enough of it. After several years of struggling to survive, getting by on only her own skills and her mother's guidance, she realized that it would be that way no matter what she did. On the bright side, she has learned to take care of herself efficiently. Unfortunately, this causes her to be a little mistrusting of people, and she has no shortage on aggressive tendencies.
The young woman brushed her blonde hair out of her face, glancing over at her cabinmates, all of whom seemed far too busy to pay her any mind. It wasn't all bad. She was accustomed to being alone. Still, it was a little saddening to finally have people around, yet still feel utterly alone. Brushing the thoughts from her mind, Astra drew her sword, pulling the sharpening stone from her pack and adjusted for the sake of comfort. Then, she slowly slid theh stone along the blade of her sword, gradually sharpening it in the way ther her ancestors had done. It was important to any viking to maintain the condition of their blades, and there was always a very strong connection between a warrior and their weapon. Astra took a moment upon finishing to look over the blade, her eyes catching the inlay that showed her name in "Danish" Runes. Just another reminder of her struggles. The young woman's expression hardened with the realization that her troubles were only beginning.
- Biography:
Astra was born in Birka, Sweden, to a well known local historian. Orin Eðna was something of a famous historian, specializing in the history of the local population who were direct decendents of the Scandinavian Vikings. Orin was a giant of a man, standing at an intimidating 6'6" with a muscular build, and was known to be of a warrior's mind as well as in body. However, he was also known to be articulate and intelligent, with a sense of kindness that many found surprising after the inital impression of his appearance. While researching the history and participating in several viking battle reenactments, he met a woman who stole his heart. The woman was, in truth, the goddess Freyja who had taken a fancy to Orin after observing his love for the old ways.
After a short while, the two fell in love, and produced a child. Unexpectadly, Freyja revealed herself to Orin, whom felt privelaged that the gods not only existed, but one of them had any sort of interest in him. Orin named her Astra, and began raising her. Orin was heartbroken that Freyja had to leave, but, he understood that it was her duty to do so. Orin raised Astra with a strong sense of pride in her heritage, and grew up with a powerful adoration of the Viking ways of life. She would always watch the reenactments that her father orchestrated and performed in with a great deal of joy, and she listened to every word her father told her about their ancestors, and always included subtle hints that they were extremely important to her life.
While she was still very young, upon request from Freyja, Orin took Astra and moved to the United States. In truth, Orin didn't want to leave, but Freyja told him of a place that she could be kept safe from the potential dangers for a demigod. Upon entering school, she was never very popular, having been a bit of an outsider to her American classmates because of where she was from, her unusual stature, and of course, her fascination with her heritage. This fascination showed often in her choice of attire, and got her in trouble several times. During her earlier years in public school, she never did well. Between her ADHD, Dyslexia, and her anger issues that began to truly appear during her late elementary years, Astra was forced to switch schools often. This grew worse every year until she was about twelve years old, when she decided that she didn't want to do public school.
Orin refused to allow this, as his career kept him extremely busy, and he would never have time to watch her. As it were, the only time they spent together was during weekends that he had off, which was pretty much a bi-weekly occurance. These couple days were the only times that Astra felt happy any more, and it was during this time that he began teaching her how to fight how her ancestors did. Unfortunately for her, it was also during this period that the monsters first began showing up. After her first encounter with a monster, Orin told her the truth of her origin, about her mother, and how the stories of the gods were true. At first, Astra didn't believe it, but in time, came to terms with the truth. For the next year, Astra tried to live with her father still, but the monster incidents became more and more frequent until eventually, Orin was injured in an attack.
Astra felt responsible, and inquired about the camp he had mentioned when he first told her, the one that her mother, Freyja, had mentioned. Orin begged her not to leave, or at least to wait until he was healthy enough to take her there, to help keep her safe. Astra told him that she wouldn't leave until he was better, but she couldn't remain there and put him at further risk. So, under the cover of night, she took her gear and packed herself a travel pack, and left her home, leaving a note in her room that she was sorry and couldn't wait. Upon leaving, she immediately began making her way towards the place her father had mentioned. Freyja had called it "Camp Half-Blood", a place full of people like her, demigods who didn't belong anywhere else.
During her time on her own, Astra managed to survive, and learned to keep herself alive by foraging for food, and fighting off any monsters that attacked her. A couple times, she was nearly killed, but managed to keep herself alive. It was during these few years, Astra discovered that her anger issues went far deeper than she had originally known, and actually gave her a strength that she could tap into when in truly dire situations. After about three years of surviving like this, Astra encountered a Satyr who was escorting another demigod to the camp. After a somewhat embarassing and violent encounter, the two agreed to take her to the camp. The journey ended in another couple days, when the three arrived at the camp. Astra settled into the Norse Cabin, and became a regular camper.

| Necromancy - How far does the extent of this ability go, how tired does it make her and for how long does her control last
Charmspeak - While I wanted to say no at first, the way you worded it s much like how Loki children have a form of being able to persuade people to believe their lies. Because of this I'm going to let the power go for me personally. How many times a day is her voice effective before she finally loses the ability to persuade someone on that day(basically how many times a day can she use the ability)
Beserker - Just how long does this last, what is she left feeling after the effects, how is the ability triggered, and how many times a day can the ability be triggered.
Valkyrie - Now this one I'm most iffy about. It opens the door to a minor form of powerplay (i.e. sending another persons dead character to Freyja domain...if this can be considered powerplay) And it opens the idea of allowing characters to see into the future with your description of the death sense. Common death sense for characters on here is that the character can sense when someone has died not when they are about to. Perhaps if you could change that it would be allowable. Seeing as this is the section that mainly contains passive abilities altogether, limitations like how tired she feels and such don't exactly apply. | |
